Family Outreach Program DC Area

Family Outreach Program, Inc. operating in the greater DC area is registered as a charity and is made up of volunteers in Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC that pick-up donations from stores such as Whole Foods and Auntie Annie’s and individual donations. The operation is sponsored by Food Donation Connection, which also sponsors Family Outreach Program in Illinois. Whole Foods Stores in Maryland are in Rockville and Gaithersburg. Those stores supply up to six days’ worth of donated food which are picked up by 10 volunteers. Auntie Annie’s Pretzel store in Tyson’s Corner in Virginia offers up to 60 pounds of pretzels a week and are picked up twice a week for charitable distribution. All food is distributed to needy families on our program list that are under the poverty level. Food pantries receiving donations from Family Outreach Program in the DC area are McLean’s Share Food Pantry in Virginia and River of God Church, DC, along with low-income families in Maryland and Virginia where food is delivered. Donations have also been offered to Rockville’s Montgomery County Men’s Shelter, Two Rockville women’s shelters, 4 area volunteer fire departments and the Upper Room Christian Fellowship Center in Potomac, Maryland. Because operations of this nonprofit are voluntary and food is distributed directly to its needy receivers and not stored, there is no central pantry location. However, the vehicles, gas and costs of operation are still a concern and for that reason we welcome any funding that can be offered. Donations are tax deductible, and all donations will receive a tax-deductible receipt or invoice. Donations can be processed through our website on the bottom of the first page or can be send via PayPal or Zelle at the following email address: cityoutreach@aol.com Area phone: 301-309-7209.
